This is one of the places that a new adrenaline-rushing sport/trend is fast-becoming a popular and daring activity amongst locals and foreigners alike; dune-surfing is taking this part of the world by storm and offers visitors an alternative way to enjoy their Libyan sojourn.
Another spot to indulge in this crazy extreme sport is on the sand dunes of the Ubari Lake, where members of the public can hire surf boards from a nearby vendor. The Ubari sand dunes, however, are not for the faint-hearted, as they are tall and steep, but do provide the ultimate shot of adrenaline to get the heart pumping good and fast. It is highly fun and addictive, but those who embark on such an escapade should be fore-warned that it can also be highly dangerous.
