The country of Libya is the ideal destination for your next well-earned holiday. Magnificent and vibrant, this North African gem is largely un-spoilt by commercialization and unaffected by the congestion of travellers meaning your sojourn can be done in relative discretion and with peace of mind. There are so many wonderful places to visit and exciting activities to enjoy with cultural tourism being the main reason why so many embark on a journey to this lovely country.
As Libya is steeped in rich history and an effervescent heritage most visitors to these shores are intrigued by the art and architecture, which holds historical significance for the locals. The perfect venue to soak up some of the culture and enjoy an educational, yet fun-filled afternoon is at the Sabratha Museum. Sabratha, just 65km west of the capital Tripoli, is one of Libya’s greatest Roman cities and extensively documents the rich elite dwellings of Roman North Africa. The Sabratha Museum is a classic tribute to this era with its stunning collection of colourful mosaics being one of the facility’s most prominent features.
The museum is adjacent to an array of beautiful Roman baths that overlook the coastline; the tiles and patterns used in these baths can also be found in the museum, with the craftsmanship and expert inlaid tiling being absolutely impeccable and unmatched anywhere in the region. The Sabratha Museum is also home to an authentic column, which had been retrieved from the private house it had been excavated from, and the colours that radiate off it are spellbinding and riveting.
